The conference in Kazan: «Usage of robot-assisted systems ReoGo and ReoAmbulator in Neurorehabilitation for stroke patients»

On 19-20th of January 2011 in Kazan hospital for Veterans of War within the framework of restorative medical society of the Russian Federation (the Republic of Tatarstan) was hold a conference on a topic: «Usage of robot-assisted systems ReoGo and ReoAmbulator in Neurorehabilitation for stroke patients».

The conference initiators were recreation therapy and sports medicine department Kazan State Medical University (professor, D.M., head of a department, Auhadeev Jerik Il'jasovich), regional restorative medical society (secretary-general of restorative medical society of the Russian Federation (the Republic of Tatarstan), Candidate of Medical Sciences, A.P. Bodrova Rezeda Akhmetovna) and compare JSC “Medicine and New Technologies”, Samara, exclusive distributor of the company Motorika, Israel.

About 80 specialists fr om different medical fields, generally from restorative medicine and neurology, took part in the conference.

Head of restorative medicine and rehabilitation centre SHCI “Kazan hospital for Veterans of War” Bodrova R.A. in her opening speech at the welcome ceremony pointed out the importance of innovative methods in rehabilitation and improvement of the effectiveness in delivering therapy for patients with motor disfunctions.

The significance of well-timed rehabilitation of stroke as one of the main reasons of disability and incapacity for work, the relevance of complex neurorehabilitation treatment and usage of robot-assisted systems at any level of after-care stroke patients were mentioned at the conference.

IMG_0788.JPGProfessor, head of recreation therapy and sports medicine department of Kazan State Medical University, Auhadeev J.I. told about the significance of Bernstein's theory in understanding the possible methods of stroke patients’ rehabilitation. He reminded about Bernstein's system of motion synthesis wh ere Bernstein N.A. had distinguished 5 levels, each of which defines by certain anatomical organization of brain, the main efference (or type of sensorial correction) establishing a process of building movements by feedback and the variety of control movements covering direct classes of movement tasks.

The presentation of robot-assisted systems ReoGo and ReoAmbulator through the program of conference was held. 2 sessions were delivered to a stroke patient with hemiparesis. Medical specialists could see by themselves the effectiveness of such rehabilitation methods.

Apart from that specialists from JSC “Medicine and New Technologies” showed to the therapists the possibilities of the device VACUMED Lower Body Negative Pressure Therapy with magnetic field and oxygen therapy as integrated options (Weyergans, Germany) for the treatment and prevention of diabetes mellitus and vascular diseases caused by venous and arterial insufficiency in the lower extremities.

The display of physiotherapeutic unites from HiTop family – 191, 184 and HiToP Metabol which are successfully used for the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy, arthropathy and an array of different diseases aroused a great interest.
